Nuclear Destruction - a Nuclear War Card Game by Mr. B. Games — KickstarterWhen it ended on June 26th, 2024 the Kickstarter raised $65,860 & had 1,311 backers.
Inventor/Engineer Doug Malewicki is an Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineer with a MS from Stanford University. Doug holds patents on inventions in the diversified fields of aerospace, medicine, transportation and toys.
Doug is also an avid trail runner, cyclist and backpacker.
Doug strongly believes exercise is a very important part of staying healthy in his geezer years. He has been running since 1972 and loving trail running after discovering it 1998. He has cycled the 540 miles from San Francisco to LA down beautiful Pacific Coast Highway 1 seven times since 1982. Doug did 25 years in a row of week long backpack trips every summer in the Sierra’s since 1982. He has trekked up to the summit of Mount Whitney (14,496 feet elevation - highest spot in the contiguous 48 states) 7 times since 1995. Last time was 2019. (Pictures).Doug Malewicki was President/Chief Scientist for AeroVisions Inc., a company he founded in 1974, incorporated in 1980 for developing, promoting and commercializing his numerous inventions. At age 78, he finally dissolved it 43 years later in 2017.

ROBOSAURUS – THE FIRE BREATHING, CAR EATING, ELECTROHYDROMECHANICAL, 40 foot tall, 58,000 pound, TRANSFORMING MONSTER ENTERTAINMENT ROBOT.
GOING ONCE... GOING TWICE... GONE! On January 19, 2008 after 18 years of operation, Robosaurus was sold at the famed
Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona . MORE
Two of Doug’s USA Patents are for his Robosaurus invention. He founded Monster Robots, Inc. and was involved in finding all investors and product sponsors. Doug did all the structural design and engineering (loads determinations, weights and stress analysis). Along with all the electronic, hydraulic and control system packaging and functional testing. The creature, which was built in 1.5 years, has been doing shows since 1990. The most recent NDT (non-destructive-testing) inspection of all welded joints was performed at 250,000 miles and showed no weld fatigue degradation. One man sitting up in the creature’s cranium controls Robosaurus. Doug had to develop an innovative wearable control system to enable a single pilot to simultaneously control 18 proportional hydraulic motions. Each hydraulic valve is controlled by a P-Q Control’s Inc. of Bristol, Connecticut computer valve board that converts the simple on-off electrical switch signals given by the pilot in the head into proper proportional fluid flow rates to the various hydraulic cylinders and pumps.
Much of the Robosaurus structural design involved tradeoffs to enable transformation to a legal trailer for hauling the 58,000-pound, fire breathing, beast from show to show. Robosaurus meets highway size and weight requirements for all 50 States.

TRAIL RUNNING
Jedi Master Yoda better approve! (He sure likes all my shiny medals from 2012 to 2014...)
On February 15, 2014 at the Winter Trail Run Series 21K, a half marathon with 2,850' of climbs, my streak of 20 FIRST PLACES in a ROW in AGE 70+ came to an end. 72 year old Peter Rowat from San Diego is my new hero. His time was better than my best times for this same race back when I was in my early 60's. I was already 75 at the time, so could still claim no one OLDER than me beat me!
Truth be told - at half my races there was NO other 70+ competition. I could have stopped, drank a beer, taken a nap, then "raced" to the finish and still earned 1st in age! I am most proud of running two 26.2 trail Marathons A WEEK APART in 2012 and getting a first in age at both events! Better yet at the Catalina ECO-Marathon I had 9 competitors
Getting beat by some one older than me didn't happen until 6.5 years after I turned 70. It was Labor Day September 2015, when my buddy since the 70's 6' 3", 145 pound Chris Laing, who is 5 months older than me and one of the featured healthy over 75 athletes in my FIT AT 75 eBook. Chris beat me at the 50th annual Mount Baldy Race to the Top. Worse, it was my best ever time up to the 10,064' summit of Mount Baldy of 2:29:47. He did it in 2:10:44. Faster by 19 minutes!

SkyTran - Personal MagLev Transportation
Malewicki has been an invited keynote speaker on SkyTran and our new Wind Turbine retrofit business (based on our SkyTran technology and patents) to Dubai (April 2010 with Dr. Greg Smedley CEO/founder of One-Cycle-Control, Inc.) and to Macau, China (July 2011). Details on these and several local presentations in California HERE

Just as the automobile replaced the horse in one generation and the Internet has largely replaced snail mail letters, newspapers, FAXes and libraries in one generation; power electronics will replace mechanical transmissions in your generation.
This was also the first public unveiling of the full size SkyTran MagLev (Magnetically Levitated) prototype on its short LSM (Linear Synchronous Motor) powered guideway at NASA Ames in Mountain View, CA MORE.
My SkyTran invention was featured on the cover of he July 2008 issue of Popular Science (or their artist's version of what THEY think our pods should look like). "GREEN MEGALOPOLIS - An eco-savvy blueprint for tomorrow's megacity points the way to fresh air, clean water and traffic that never jams."

SKYTRAN
Doug considers that his most important invention is his 100 mph non-stop, on-demand SkyTran system. SkyTran can totally eliminate commuter congestion in any city for the same cost as a single line of 15 mph average speed Light Rail through a city. Informative Channel 7 ABC TV Eye Witness News interview by Steve Alvarez HERE and Los Angeles Times article HERE.The key to this solid state, personalized MagLev system’s capacity performance falls out of math and physics analysis. SkyTran will greatly reduce energy used in the transportation of people; eliminate the pollution associated with commuting; greatly enhance safety of personal travel and reduce travel costs.

In the early 1980’s, Doug set two Official Guinness World Records for high mileage efficiency with his lightweight, streamlined, street & freeway legal California Commuter.
157.192 MPG - gasoline record - LA to SF. Just 2.87 gallons to travel 451.3 miles!
156.53 MPG - diesel record - Anaheim, California to Las Vegas, Nevada. Just 1.68 gallons of diesel to travel 263.4 miles while climbing 7,993 feet of elevation gains.eCC - THE ELECTRIC CALIFORNIA COMMUTER
The updated Electric California Commuter (eCC) will be a licensed street & freeway legal, all-electric "Green" vehicle. It is is designed to set a world record in electric-mileage efficiency at freeway speeds. We want to prove that the technology to change the world is already here, we just need to change how people THINK about transportation.
The improved eCC will have
25% less aerodynamic drag and
will obtain 400 MPGe at a steady 65 MPH.IMAGINE a penny per mile!
Flying and DARPA Flying Machines
FLYING
Doug is a licensed pilot, who worked as a Senior Flight Test Engineer at Cessna’s Military - Twin Division in the late 1960’s. He was involved in FAA certification flight-testing to document take-off, landing, stall, single engine climb and autopilot failure performance. He also did performance analysis for Cessna’s first business jet - the Cessna Citation. Doug was the 10th person ever to fly in the N500CC prototype. He is shown here, 35 years later - in January 2004, enjoying sharing the cockpit of a Cessna Citation Jet 2 at 41,000 feet during a flight between Connecticut and Florida.
In the early 60’s, Doug worked on the Apollo Saturn V - man to the moon program. As a Senior Structural Loads Analyst he was involved with structural dynamic response analysis on the Lunar module/Service module docking ring structure. The analysis showed that this connecting ring had to be beefed up to withstand a possible hard-over thruster engine failure. He also worked on the Launch Escape Abort System doing dynamic analysis and software for the pyrotechnic event that deployed stabilizing canards.
In the mid 1980’s, he worked as Senior Technical Specialist in Advanced Composites Manufacturing on Northrop’s B-2 Stealth Bomber. Doug was involved with radar adsorbent composite materials coatings and developed methods to weld preformed thermoplastic graphite composite parts.
UMAAV’s (Unmanned Morphing Aerial Attack Vehicles) a conceptual development contract for DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Project Agency).
Rather than just doing a extensive theoretical aerodynamic and structural analysis for his innovative designs, Doug's company AeroVisions, Inc. built and flew Radio Control models to demonstrate his various morphing concepts.
July 2005, Doug was the plenary speaker for the DARPA Morphing Aircraft Structures Conference in San Diego. After sensing & confirming the bad guys, morphing UAV’s of the future will be able to transform and dive down at Mach 0.9 and pull 5 g maneuvers to take out targets. Will save calling in the F-16 jet jocks and waiting 20 minutes for them to arrive. A computer generated movie of a typical mission of Doug’s favorite proposed UMAAV, aptly named THE DROID OF DEATH, can be seen at the above UMAAV link.

NUCLEAR WAR - Doug's 1965 Game Invention
GAME INVENTIONS
Doug invented and published Nuclear War in 1965 at age 26 with a printing of 1,000 games! In 1972, he licensed it to Scottsdale, AZ game manufacturer Flying Buffalo, Inc. . This company has been most influential in its long-term success. Over 2 million games have now been sold.As time passed, the weapons used in the basic game became obsolete, so expansion sets with newer futuristic weapons were created:
1965 - The original Nuclear War
1982 - Nuclear Escalation
1992 – Nuclear Proliferation
1996 – Nuclear War Booster Packs
2004 – Weapons of Mass Destruction
(YES - that is THE DROID OF DEATH on the cover of the then newest game!)Doug and his original Nuclear War game were inducted into the
Adventure Game Hall of Fame in 1998.
2015 will be the 50th Anniversary of Nuclear War!
F. B. I. will celebrate with a NEW SPECIAL EDITION!2024 was a Kickstarter to introduce NUCEAR DESTRUCTION -

The RadioAPPtive Fallout Spinner is now available in the DROID & iPhone marketplaces.
(SEARCH: Nuclear War Spinner)Doug's ©1965 Nuclear War Game has taken on a life of its own!
My 48 year old mildly sane invention is going electronic! This is the first component to be released of my very goofy game that 2 out of 3 times EVERBODY LOSES! It has won all kinds of awards over the years. I came out with it when I was a mere 26 years old! This spinner is just a precursor to the complete electronic Nuclear War Game & can be used now with the existing board game version. Much more fun than the ancient mechanical spinner ever could be!
You use the touch screen to swipe the arrow to get it moving. As it spins, it makes Geiger Counter ticking sounds. When it stops – you will hear the results. Hilarious voiceover comments in an over-the-top Russkie accent by actress Claudia Christian, well known for her TV character - Commander Ivanova of the SciFi hit series Babylon 5.

Here is a detailed summary of the game's history with their edition year that you might find interesting
(You are welcome to just skim the pictures if you don't want to read all my details.)
The ORIGINAL 1965 Nuclear War games was in a plain black box (only 1,000 were published). As you can see as the the game got popular it lasted surprisingly for many, many years. SECRET cards such as you get 5 Million people from any enemy country (player) of your choice because they are all seeking aerospace jobs in your country or being first to land on the moon. (Men Landed on the moon on July 20, 1969). That notion as an influence became really obsolete by the time Nuclear Escalation (the 5th Edition) was created in 1982. Updates to the weapons and delivery systems really needed updated new editions to keep up with the actual continually improving technologies.
Also note above the original game had the words SECRET or TOP SECRET printed on the back of their respective cards. To me that was rather important because everybody would get excited waiting in anticipation to see what would happen to the next player who had to pick the top card from the deck (and as usual MUST play it immediately!). Could be good, great or bad. Always had everybody guessing/wondering/planning when they knew a SECRET or TOP SECRET was coming next!
These are 4 of the original 1965 Nuclear War Games I still own. All are in great shape too. The 3rd original 1965 game shown here in its mailing box has one Franklin D. Roosevelt 6 cent stamp and two Abraham Lincoln 4 cent stamps. The US Post Office stamped date on the box is dated January 13, 1968!!
The 4th 1965 game shown to the right is postmarked March 3, 1965.
The white box with simple red lettering was the 2nd Edition of the game in 1977 and was
the first published by licensee Flying Buffalo Inc. (FBI) of Scottsdale, Arizona.
FBI came out with a full color small box in the 3rd edition of the game in 1980.
The 4th Edition edition in 1982 by FBI was a full color larger box that featured SUPERGERM on the cover.
Also in 1982, after realizing that some of the Missiles and SECRET and TOP SECRET cards of the original game
were becoming obsolete after 17 years, Rick decided it was time to update many aspects of the game.
NUCLEAR ESCALATION the 5th Edition was the result.
Rick's new artist, Steve Crompton, was hired by FBI in 1980. All the art for the new 1982 ESCALATION game was done by Steve. After another 8 year gap passed, Steve once again created all the art for the updated NUCLEAR PROLIFERATION game, the 6th Edition. Guess what? Steve subsequently did all the art for every single edition including the current NUCLEAR DESTRUCTION, not yet available in stores.
In 194
The 7th Edition in 1984 was a whole batch of updated different game cards. These cards were offered in small random packs of 8 cards and became the appropriately named BOOSTER CARDS. They could be mixed in and played with any of the previous editions of the game. The Booster Decks success led to the creation of a new full deck of cards, but without play mats or a spinner, which was intended to be mixed in and played with any the previous versions of the game's cards. This 8th Edition named Weapons of Mass Destruction was published in 2003.
The 40th Anniversary of the Nuclear War game made in 2005, 9th Edition, was inside a plastic sealed metal box. 1,000 of those 2015 40th Anniversary special editions were signed by artist Steve Crompton and myself on the back of the metal boxes Rick had custom made. Rick Loomis sent me the number 1 out of 1,000 labeled game that I signed. I also still have and own 4 more metal box games (all still sealed in their clear plastic wrapping).
In 2015 the 10th edition, a special 50th Anniversary game was published - (Note its big picture of the nuclear blast glows in the dark and becomes a skull!!). This was a super cool add-on idea by Rick and artist Steve Crompton! Rick, Steve and I are cartoon characters on the cover. Steve is all the way to the left with the black hat. Rick is holding the giant Propaganda card. Once again, Steve has immortalized me as an evil cartoon character - one of the bad guys on the right side - the guy in Purple holding his electrocution wand that throws out lightning bolts to attack.
Steve Crompton's Doug cartoon "modified" a photo from the cover of my Amazon eBook "Fit at 75".
I was holding my trekking poles up for a picture at the top of Piute Pass at 11,417' elevation.
Was on a 3 day backpack trip with hiking buddies Matt and Brittany Brabeck. We started at Bishop, Califonia's North Lake, went to the John Muir trail, then through scenic Evolution Valley, before turning back up to exit at Bishop's South Lake.Steve used that exact pose!
Steve Crompton asked me for a photo dressed up casual and posing like Hugh Heffner does with my head resting on my arm - while holding an original 1965 game. My surprise was how he took it and made it an awesome 50th Anniversary special. I have long ago realized that Steve's ideas and style of art is what has made my game into what it has become over the decades - termed an EVERGREEN GAME.
Rick offered laser cut square corner "ammo box" to carry your 50th Anniversary game edition as one of the Kickstarter perks. Limited to 250. As you can see it includes a built in Radioactive Fallout Spinner, a plastic slider that says PEACE or WAR. The strip below the imbedded NUCLEAR WAR silver letters has an ID strip which says 50th ANNIVERSARY EDITION - LIMITED ISSUE DELUXE BOX 001 / 250.
(The 001 was the number 1 to 250 number variable.) Yes, I got the first game of the 250. However, being a craftsman hobbyist, I immediately thought I should make one for myself out of nice Oak and radius all those square corners with my router. While visiting at the Conference, Rick introduced to the digital laser wood cutting guy who made the boxes. His only worry was if his laser could cleanly cut a hardwood like oak. I bought some 1/4" oak sheets for him to experiment with and it cut fine! It was fun to watch him make all the parts to the make each board, a surprisingly fast process. The NUCLEAR WAR letters were also laser cut out from silver plastic. They all fit perfectly in their receptacle letter holes in the wood (no glue required!).
The one and only oak 50th custom box with a 50th game inside. (Box top above).
A more readable picture of the lettering on my oak box. The silver plastic frame around the spinner was also a laser digitally cut part.
______________________________________________________________________________________________
So now you know that IN REALITY the new NUCLEAR DESTRUCTION version is actually the 11th Edition of the Nuclear War original 1965 game!!!
______________________________________________________________________________________________
Ahh! The famous BUMPER STICKERS that Flying Buffalo created (not me). My favorite has always been "I heart Nuclear War"! We cannot forget these crazy, fun, awesome Bumper Stickers for your car! I have given many, many of these bumper stickers to friends and people I came across that used to play the game back in their Middle school days. ONLY one person I ever gave one to has actually had the guts to put the most popular of the bunch - "I Heart Nuclear War" - Sticker on his car!
Every body loves SUPERGERM! However, hardly anyone realizes it was inspired by a cartoon of the Apollo Command Module (where the 3 astronauts lived on their trips to the moon and back). Their original cartoons were popular when I worked for North American Aviation Space Division in Downey, California, where the Apollo Command Module was built, tested and Astronauts were trained. I was a young aerospace structural dynamics engineer at the time.
Rick Loomis made this card back in 1993 to pass out free at his FBI booth at game conventions.
This is an advertising postcard for the digital Nuclear War SPINNER APP produced many years later in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary Edition. It was 100% created by Richard Roszko, a big Nuclear War Game fan for many years. He did it on his own with my approval. He happened to be friends with actress Claudia Christian, who played Captain Ivanova in the long running 1990 Babylon 5 Sci Fi TV series. She did a satirical voice comment for each of a bomb's radioactive fallout effects with her special Russian accent voice. Each comment was specifically scripted for where ever the spinner arrow actually landed (stopped spinning). The spinner even made noises like a real spinning arrow and as it slowed down it sounded very real. Claudia even had a comment when the arrow landed on a dud or some such. If it landed right on a line she also told you to spin again - all with her special Russian accent. I am sure Rick scripted it all for her. Rick was super fan! As you can guess the Digital Spinner APP was even more fun than the real mechanical arrow spinner.
Unfortunately, that fun APP hasn't been available for several years. Sorry.

Nuclear War Game Summary CommentsRick Loomis the owner of Flying Buffalo Inc that I licensed the copyrights to back in the early 1970's passed away almost 5 years ago at age 71 on August 23, 2019, two days before his 72nd Birthday. I relicensed the game to what I felt was by far the best game corporation who could keep this crazy game's sales going strong. Webbed Sphere Inc (WSI) out of Kentucky owns over a dozen game companies and even Puzzle creating companies.
I am proud of the evergreen Nuclear War games and YES Active and still alive at 85!! I reached 1,000 GPS miles for this year on June 7 on my way to 2,024 miles for the year 2024. Have been doing the year in miles+ since 2020.
